This week of RBOTD went down the toilet, huh? Dehumanization Process is a four-piece from France that plays a brutal variant of tech death. Musically, it might've been OK if it wasn't covered in a fuzzy deathcore mold that releases symphonic spores. That is to say, objectively, the band can play. Subjectively, good god, this is boring. I find this kind of tech to be a snooze generally. Instead of hooks and strong songwriting, it relies on whiz-bang widdles and Aborted ear candy to hold your attention. When stripped of those elements, what does Dehumanization Process accomplish that Origin hasn't already done to death 20 years ago? Nothing. And then there are the lyrics.
"Sacrificial Lamb" is one of the most perfunctorily repugnant songs I've had the displeasure of reading in a long time. It glorifies sexual violence against women in a way that makes Lividity seem subtle. There's no creativity, no authorial remove, no point of view beyond pure edgelord misogyny. What a bunch of lazy, hacky dreck. It's tired. It's stupid. It's not shocking. You know what's shocking? Having to live in this fucked up culture suffused with entertainment that normalizes this brodude, incel-brain bullshit. If Dehumanization Process are actual misogynists, they can go fuck themselves. If they're doing it because other bands have done it and they think it's OK, yo, stop perpetuating this horseshit. Get this trash out of metal. What a bunch of goobers.
