In the third episode of the Plague Rages Podcast, heavy metal writers Wolf Rambatz and Stephen David Stevenson-Davison talk to Stephen Schwegler and Doug Moore of Seputus and go deep on their new album, Phantom Indigo.

2:18: Stephen and Doug talk about the genesis of Man Does Not Give, Seputus’s 2016 debut released on PRC Music, They also provide some background on Seputus’s writing process.

11:08: Stephen and Doug break down “The Will to Live.” The four also talk about the misery of staying up all night. Finally, Stephen and Doug remember when Alan Douches told them, “You didn’t achieve that.”

26:09: Stephen and Doug break down “The Learned Response.” They also gush over Verellen Amplifiers.

38:31: Stephen and Doug break down “Tautology.” They also talk about recursion and when to sing and when not to sing. They then propose a heavy metal theory about cats and dogs sorting. Finally, they talk about Dylan DiLella’s guest solo.

55:46: Stephen and Doug break down “The Forgetting Curve.”

64:03: Stephen and Doug break down “Deuteragonist.”

68:39: Stephen and Doug break down “Phantom Indigo.” Doug talks about his vocal recording process. He then pisses off Bono.

Phantom Indigo is out now on Willowtip Records. It was produced, recorded, and engineered by Stephen Schwegler with additional drum recording and engineering by Joe Smiley at Red Planet Recordings and vocal tracking and editing by Doug Moore.
